Ironman for Nature is the fundraising platform for Ironman athletes and associated individuals and corporates to support the conservation work of Wilderness Foundation Africa
Wilderness Foundation Africa is a South African project based Non Profit and Public Benefit conservation organisation, established in 1972. The Foundation’s headquarters are based in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.
Wilderness Foundation Africa is led by an experienced executive team and programmes are managed by competent Programme Managers. The activities of the Foundation are overseen by an independent Board of Trustees comprising six members and the accounts are audited annually by auditing firm Ernst and Young.
Through our 3 key focus areas of Species, Spaces and People, we envisage a world that has sufficient intact natural ecosystems and wilderness areas that are valued and effectively protected for the benefit of all.
Our work is based on the values of: a passion for direct conservation action; respect for all living things; a deep commitment to conservation education; and with operations that demonstrate integrity, transparency, sustainability, and innovation.
The 2020 Ironman for Nature charity objective is to bring athletes, sponsors, and organizers together for the benefit of conservation and nature. We are appealing to athletes to secure a sponsorship or raise the funds independently to cover the cost of a charity slot and participate in the “Lumo Green” colours of Ironman for Nature at one or more of the popular IRONMAN tri-events.
At this time of unprecedented environmental challenges, biodiversity loss and climate change, Ironman for Nature aims to raise funds and increase awareness to protect the environment and wildlife.
